Programme Director
Julia's current conference programme focuses on justice and home affairs, including migration, organised crime and counter-terrorism. She also runs the annual ‘Futures’ conference, regular events on public diplomacy and convenes the Atlantic Youth Forum for bright thinkers from North America and Europe.
Julia joined Wilton Park in 2005 and was previously International Development Manager at the Refugee Council. Prior to this, she was responsible for contingency planning in the refugee sector and in 1999, was UK Co-ordinator of the Kosovan Humanitarian Evacuation Programme working with government to ensure the safe reception of 4,460 Kosovar refugees into the UK.
In 1993, she was seconded to UNHCR, Western Afghanistan on the emergency shelter programme for refugees returning from Iran. Previously, she worked as a welfare rights adviser, predominantly with homeless people. Julia read English Language and Literature at Hull University (BA Hons).
