Defence and security

Working with a variety of partners, the programme delivers meetings on issues such as the prevention of the spread of ‘weapons of mass destruction’ and the verification of multilateral agreements.  Launched in the 1980s, the Wilton Park WMD programme has developed into two primary strands: nuclear non-proliferation and chemical and biological weapons.

As a key programme throughout our 60 year history, we also convene discussions on defence policy and capability and on more effective conduct of stabilisation and counter-insurgency operations.
