Emerging leaders

The British-German Forum

First established by Chancellor Kohl and Margaret Thatcher in 1985, this is an annual event, bringing together “high fliers” from Germany and Britain aged 25-35 to explore global themes with leading experts.  The Forum aims to encourage shared understanding and to build strong relationships between influential young Britons and Germans.  Partners include the British-German Environment Forum, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Robert Bosch Stiftung.

The Atlantic-Youth Forum

Beginning in 2004, the Atlantic Youth Forum provides the opportunity for young Americans, Canadians and Europeans aged between 18-24 to gain insights into each other’s concerns and perceptions on key challenges facing their countries and the international community, and to make lasting contacts. The programme covers a range of political, security, cultural, economic and social issues of major interest to the US, Canada and European countries.  Partners have included Science Applications International (SAIC) and NATO Public Diplomacy,

South Asia Young People’s Forum

From 2001, Wilton Park ran three annual South Asian fora for promising young Indians and Pakistanis under 40.  Discussing issues of common interest in a neutral environment helped develop mutual understanding, diminish suspicion, and promote personal links and ideas on future collaboration.  Our partners were the Paris Centre D’Etudes et Recherches Internationales (CERI), the Berlin Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP) in Berlin, and the New Delhi Ford Foundation Regional Office.
