Conference Room

Sustainable development

Aiming to support the Millennium Development Goals, this programme focuses on economic development, aid effectiveness and poverty eradication in the poorest communities, especially Sub-Saharan Africa.

Meetings have been convened for issues such as global health, including most recently, on scaling up international responses to HIV/AIDs and shrinking the areas affected by malaria.  In addition recent conferences focused on Infant and Maternal Mortality and the public-private investment partnerships in health.

A series of dialogues are held every year to discuss disaster prevention and humanitarian response, covering a wide range of topics from responses to flooding, the use of military assets to reducing urban risk.

Over the next three years this series of meetings will include Global food security, land use and agriculture. In partnership with Professor Michael Winter and Exeter University these will explore how to reduce volatility in global markets, managing land use, science and technology and diets and nutrition.
