OPTIONS FOR THESSALONIKI SUMMIT AND BEYOND
"The prospect of EU membership is the main incentive for positive movement throughout the region. Indeed, it is the only progressive vision capable to mobilise people, the others being nationalist agendas. Frustrating the European aspirations of the Balkan peoples would be to push them once more into the past. Hence, if we assess that consolidating stability and promoting democratic and economic reforms in the Balkans is a vital European interest, committing to their European prospect is a direct corollary".
