International Day for Disaster Reduction
editWilton Park’s contribution to reducing risk
Today is the International Day for Disaster Reduction. Wilton Park has focused extensively on disaster reduction over the last few years. A discussion on a gender inclusive approach to disaster prevention, preparedness and response will take place in Manila in November with our partners the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC).
Other recent discussions in partnership with ADPC focused on urban flood risk in delta areas and disaster preparedness in Vietnam – and getting the story out before disaster hits. In January this year, we also worked with IGAD and UNOSAT in Nairobi on Strengthening technological capacities and information access for improving disaster risk reduction in the Horn of Africa.
