2 August, 2012

Diplomat Magazine recently presented 12 awards to London-based diplomats. This included the Distinguished Contribution to Diplomacy award which Wilton Park won in 2011.

Diplomat Magazine’s annual award ceremony was hosted by publisher Hugo de Bloq van Kuffeler at The Langham, London.

On the occasion of the awards we would like to congratulate all those who won awards including the following Wilton Park alumni;

  • His Excellency Mr Eduardo Medina Mora, Ambassador of Mexico
  • His Excellency Dr Ion Jinga, Ambassador of Romania
  • His Excellency Mr Fakhraddin Gurbanov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan
  • His Excellency Mr Hatem Seif El Nasr Ambassador of Egypt
  • His Excellency Mr Mauricio Rodriguez-Munera, Ambassador of Colombia

who all won the Diplomat of the Year Award for their respective regions.

The London Academy of Diplomacy was this year’s winner of the Distinguished Contribution to Diplomacy in London award which was accepted by the Director, Professor Nabil Ayad, who has attended a number of our public diplomacy events. Impressively, 180 countries currently have alumni from the Academy in government and diplomatic service. The award was presented by Paul Walters, General Manager of The Langham Hotel.

We are delighted that the award has been passed on to such a prestigious and valuable organisation. The 2012 ceremony was the 4th annual event in celebration of the contribution to global diplomacy from international missions in London.
