This intimate, off the record dinner debate, in association with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, explored the importance of efficient economies and a predictable business environment in promoting trade and investment by UK businesses in emerging markets.
Participants debated the requirements and priorities of multinational organisations when evaluating business environments for investment or trade in emerging markets and asked:
- How can governments support business through developing and maintaining transparent, efficient economies and better global competition?
- What are the respective roles of policymakers and the corporate world in selling the arguments for adapting – or adopting – rules-based systems of trade and investment?
