This meeting assessed ways that emerging threats to, and opportunities for, nuclear security can be identified; how effectively the nuclear security architecture is able to respond to such threats and opportunities; and how it could be reconfigured to maximise that effectiveness. Specific topics for discussion included:
- How is the nuclear security architecture (AdSec, NSG, GICINT, Global Partnership) currently set up to anticipate, identify and address new threats and opportunities?
- The process of threat/challenge forecasting and anticipation. What techniques are used, what partnerships (private/public/NGO/academic) are utilised, and how is performance evaluated: transferrable experiences from government and non-government horizon-scanning techniques
- Technological, social and political futures: identifying threats and opportunities for nuclear security
