The Acting Chief Executive of Wilton Park, Myles Wickstead CBE, and the Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Mr Mikheil Janelidze, met at Lancaster House on Monday 23 October 2017 to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of HE Ms Tamar Beruchashvili, Ambassador of Georgia to the UK and HE Mr Justin McKenzie Smith, Ambassador of the UK to Georgia. The MoU sets out the joint objective of establishing a long term relationship and cooperation between Wilton Park and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs across a wide range of national and international policy issues.
As a result of the MoU, Wilton Park and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will seek to affirm the relationship between the UK and Georgia by cooperating in the organisation of discussions, conferences and other events on issues such as global, regional and national governance, peace and international security and trade and investment.
The Agreement was signed prior to the 2017 UK-Georgia Wardrop Strategic Dialogue held in the UK. As the fourth Wardrop Dialogue Meeting, this two day bilateral, held on 23-24 October, built upon previous discussions to emphasise the broad scope of bilateral relations between the two nations.
The signing of this Agreement reaffirms the continued collaboration between the UK and Georgia. We look forward to working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop future programmes which focus on Georgian priorities.
