New speakers and practitioners at the Inaugural School Of International Futures

Anne-Marie Slaughter, former Head of Policy Planning at the US State Department is amongst confirmed speakers at the School of International Futures. Prof Slaughter will deliver an insight on the importance of strategic foresight for foreign policy.

Joining Prof Slaughter will be Ambassador Arif Lalani, Director General of Strategy and Policy Planning at the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, speaking about the core importance of preparedness and contingency planning and his experience of this in Afghanistan.
Further prominent speakers include Mike Jeffress and Hardin Tibbs. Mike Jeffress is Director of Global and Emerging Issues at the US National Intelligence Council and will explain the impact of the NIC’s Global Trends programme, considering its strategic approach and methodology. Hardin Tibbs is CEO of Synthesis Strategic Consulting and will lead a session on how to scope, distil and then address policy issues using foresight exercises.
Representatives of national governments, international organisations, leading think tanks, and major corporates will continue to be confirmed as speakers in the coming weeks.
