Event:

A consensus-based Commonwealth vision for trade negotiation, facilitation and finance (WP1541)

This event looked at creating an explicit trade and development agenda for the Commonwealth and provide a consensus-based framework for negotiations.

Participants discussed how this fits in the international trading picture and the role Commonwealth members can play, individually and collectively, within the WTO.

The ability of Wilton Park to bring people with relevant skillsets together (on a weekend!) and on the heels of a major trade ministers meeting demonstrates its eye for aligning opportunity with impact.Lord Howell’s perspectives were spot on and provide a useful insight into what can be learned from the past and used to enhance future initiatives and thinking.
