This conference discussed the following points:

  • How can African countries move from a peace agreement to reconciliation, social reconstruction and development that will last?
  • What steps can be taken to prevent rolling conflicts spilling into neighbouring countries?
  • What positive models of disarmament and reintegration are there for ex-combatants?
  • What contribution can the African Union, NEPAD (the New Partnership for Africa’s Development), the UN and other international actors make?
