Global Wind Energy Council Summit - video playlist

In this video playlist participants discuss how renewable energy is essential for reaching net zero targets. They noted that wind power is a rapidly growing industry – partly due to global competition – but that investment is needed, as well as emphasising that local communities need to benefit from the transition to green energy. Participants highlighted that renewable energy now stands as the cheapest source available, while being non-polluting and providing energy security. One participant explained how the energy transition has been crucial for Ukraine’s survival during the war, with distributed generation based on green energy reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

Ben Backwell (CEO of Global Wind Energy Council), Rachel Kyte (UK Special Representative for Climate), Gauri Singh (Deputy Director General of International Renewable Energy Agency), Viktoriia Gryb (Head of the Subcommittee on Energy Security for the Parliament of Ukraine), and Bruno Maçães (author and writer) discuss some key points.
