When Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022 Kseniia and her brother Serhii were living in Vovchansk, a town close to the Ukraine-Russia border. Forced into Russian education institutions in order to continue her studies, Kseniia and her borther were seperated. Serhii was only 11 at the time, and was abducted and forced into attending a Russian children’s camp before being placed into a Russian foster family. Brainwashed into not trusting Kseniia or Ukraine, Serhii eventually stopped responding to messages from Kseniia – so she resolved to bring him back home.
