The workshop produced several clear outcomes:

  1. A shared commitment to develop a SIDS led blue finance roadmap integrating governance, financing and capacity building.
  2. Agreement that equity and SIDS special circumstances must be embedded in the BBNJ financing mechanism and Special Fund.
  3. Recognition of the value of regional approaches to reduce costs and build scale.
  4. Support for blue finance guidelines that reflect SIDS realities and avoid unnecessary regulatory burdens.
  5. Momentum behind establishing a SIDS finance and knowledge hub.
  6. Clear identification of priority actions for governments, donors, MDBs, the private sector and civil society.
