Throughout 2025, a series of dialogues was held in response to concern about the deterioration in global peace and security. These sessions, which were motivated by the growing push for multistakeholder engagement of the kind put forward in the 2024 UN Pact for the Future, were hosted by Wilton Park, the British Embassy to the Holy See, Globethics, the UN Faith for Rights programme and the Inter-Parliamentary Union. They focused on common action to address war and polarisation, including dehumanisation, and to promote peaceful coexistence and responsible leadership.
These meetings convened hundreds of experts from around the world and from across disciplines and sectors – governments, parliaments, UN agencies, international organisations, academia, civil society and faith leadership – who emphasised the normative, ethical, moral and spiritual foundations of joint action for peace and solidarity, grounded in human dignity.
These meetings resulted in a call for a global alliance of actors who are mobilising resources in response to today’s “polycrises”, working across borders, across sectors and across faiths.
This Wilton Park dialogue builds on that call which was presented in the March 2026 document Changing the Narrative: Preparing for Peace. A White Paper on multifaith and multistakeholder engagement in times of war and polarisation. The Dialogue will convene key actors from different sectors and explore how a new multistakeholder alliance might practically support international action for peace.
