Africa is at a pivotal juncture. With a rapidly growing population, abundant natural resources, and dynamic young people, the continent holds immense potential to shape its own socio-economic future. At the same time, it is navigating complex, overlapping transitions — political, demographic, technological, energy, climate, and economic — amid global geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty, a shifting information environment, and declining official development assistance. These pressures underscore the urgent need for new approaches, action to catalyse transformative growth opportunities, and stronger collective strategies to implement and sustain this action.
This high-level policy roundtable will bring together African policymakers, regional institutions, and private sector leaders to chart pathways for transformation. Discussions will focus on measures to attract more foreign direct investment, working with development finance institutions to mobilise private capital and ensure wider development impact, building local capital markets, and actions to catalyse transformative opportunities from, for example, digital technologies and AI, or value-added use of critical minerals. In doing so, the roundtable seeks to chart practical pathways that further unlock Africa’s potential and drive forward the transformative vision of Agenda 2063.
