With conflict and natural disasters placing increasing strain on countries and communities, there is a growing need to rebuild critical infrastructure quickly, safely and sustainably. Reconstruction is no longer just about replacing what was lost; it is about restoring essential services, strengthening resilience and building back better, and improving standards and local capacity, under challenging conditions and tight timeframes.
Government-to-Government (G2G) Partnerships are one mechanism through which the UK can support partners to rebuild whilst at the same time driving opportunities for UK industry, aligned to the UK’s G2G Strategy. This Wilton Park outcomes-orientated dialogue will examine how to more effectively combine UK business expertise with UK government support under a G2G Partnership to work with post-conflict or disaster-affected partners on reconstruction.
